Miss Janell was born and raised in the Antelope Valley. She’s had an interest in music and the performing arts since day one. You’d find her reenacting scenes as she watched her favorite Disney movies, singing Mariah Carey songs on her Barbie cash register microphone, or performing songs as her “show and tell” at school. Growing up in the 90s, she got to watch her mom sing in her cover band, “Blind Date." Her mom is one of her all time favorite singers and she’s gained a lot of inspiration from watching her perform all those years.

Over the past 20 years (on and off) she has been in [and vocal directed] many musicals in the community theatre scene. Some of her favorites include: PRT’s Legally Blonde (Paulette, and vocal directed), City of Palmdale’s (In collaboration with PRT) production of Roger and Hammerstein’s Cinderella (vocal director), CST’s Anything Goes (Bonnie- got to be a featured tap dancer), CST’s Young Frankenstein (Assistant vocal director/Ensemble/ tap danced in “Puttin’ on the Ritz”). She is also very excited for her most recent project with PRT as music director of Cabaret!

Since middle school, Janell has been helping tutor other students, and attributes a lot of her passion for music to her middle school band teacher, Angie Boone. Janell has grown up to be a music teacher and singer/songwriter and has also collaborated with several local artists on writing. She has been teaching private lessons for 4 years now, and loves helping students find their passion for music like "Ms. Boone" did for her. With her history in multiple areas of performing and music, she can teach performance, vocals, guitar, clarinet, and piano.

1981 was also special in another way for Lidia. That is when she married her sweetheart, Greg Michael. Greg and Lidia have been blest with six beautiful children. It was after the birth of child #6 that Lidia finally realized God was

calling her to be a full time Mom and only a part time dance instructor. So, in 2005 Lidia sold A.V. Dance Studio ’81 to her student and friend, Candice Douglas.

Currently, Lidia fills her days with “Mom” and “Nana” duties and is very involved in religious education at her church, Saint Serra Parish. However, she still finds time to teach a few dance classes here at the studio, and truly enjoys her time with her students.
